On This Day

1801: Supposedly today is the day that Elisha Brown Jr. pressed the largest cheese ball ever into existence. The 1,235-pound cheese ball was presented to President Thomas Jefferson. While I can’t find a third reputable source to confirm that today is in fact the day, I thought I’d share anyway because it got me thinking about cheeseballs.

1837: Queen Victoria ascended to the throne at the age of 18 and became the first British monarch to live at Buckingham Palace. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had nine children, and 34 grandchildren who survived to adulthood. Among their descendants are both Queen Elizabeth II and Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip.

Morning Jam

From Food&Wine I have a recipe roundup for you: 28 vegetarian grilling recipes. I think I need to make the bread salad this week.

Oh, and because #Cheeseballs, here’s a recipe for curried cheeseballs which sounds pretty freakin’ awesome.
